Skip The Dishes: The Dinner Decider

One of the most universal (and ongoing) debates in human history is deciding where to order food. Whether it's with a friend or a family member, the conversation almost always ends up in the same frustrating loop: "I don’t care where we order from—I just wanna eat." To break that cycle, I created an interactive quiz designed to seamlessly integrate into the platform and help users make a quick, satisfying decision—no more back-and-forth.

Problem:

Hungry but not knowing where or what you want to eat

Solution:

Create an in-app survey type experience where the choice is made for YOU

Research

I noticed that, despite the obvious opportunity, Skip The Dishes and its competitors—Uber Eats, DoorDash, and others—had never offered an integrated “what should we eat?” quiz. To shape my solution, I revisited every argument I’d had with friends over restaurant choices and identified our top deal-breakers. Then I built a Google Survey and invited my Instagram followers to participate. The results were clear: when you present a restaurant as a statement (“You’re eating here”), people are far more likely to agree than when you ask, “Would you like to eat here?” This insight became the cornerstone of my interactive quiz design.
